    DESCRIPTION/JOB SUMMARY

    Berkshire Associates is growing their Pay Equity Services team! We are hiring either a Consultant of Pay Equity Services or Senior Consultant of Pay Equity Services.  A PhD or Master's degree is required, and expertise in Statistics, Industrial Psychology, or Labor Economics is strongly preferred as well as experience performing Cohort Analysis and Multiple Linear Regression to analyze compensation data. This person will report directly to our Manager of Pay Equity Services. Depending on the degree of the individual hired, the person may also be involved in other HR Services functions such as market analysis, job analysis, selection assessment validation, etc. This person may also represent the firm at industry conferences and speaking engagements.

    Candidates located near the Company's headquarters in Columbia, Maryland and fully remote candidates will be considered.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of Berkshire's Manager of Pay Equity Services, the Consultant/Senior Consultant will be responsible for managing client projects in our pay equity line of business for clients of various sizes in a wide range of industries. This individual will be responsible for conducting and overseeing statistical analyses of clients' compensation data in support of federal, state, and/or local fair pay laws. This individual will provide expert-level pay equity consulting to Berkshire clients as well as guidance to Berkshire's in-house consulting and product development teams, including the use of statistical methods to construct models for remediation of unexplained pay variances.

    RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

    • Assists the Manager of Pay Equity services in the evaluation and improvement of short- and long-term pay equity services strategy in alignment with the Manger of Pay Equity's overall strategic plan.
    • Prepares pay equity analyses using Berkshire's proprietary software and statistical software, such as SPSS, SAS, or R.
    • Partners with clients and/or legal counsel to construct remediation models and offer advice to mitigate clients' risks.
    • Provides focused coaching and direction on statistical pay equity principles and methods to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities of Berkshire's internal consulting team.
    • May act as the Client Services liaison and statistical expert to Product Development for functionality and product enhancements to Berkshire's proprietary software.
    • Promotes Berkshire's pay equity expertise through presentations at local and national conferences and webinars with partner firms.
    • Stays up-to-date on new and changing fair pay laws at the federal, state, and local level, and assists in adapting Berkshire's consulting services, software, and strategy to remain competitive.
    • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal processes to ensure quality of pay equity deliverables and related client communications.

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Understanding of statistical tests including, but not limited to: t-test, Fisher's Exact Test, Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test, F-test.
    • Understanding of multiple linear regression models, squared terms, interaction terms.
    • Understanding of logarithms in statistical modeling: purpose, uses of logarithm transformation in regression and forecasting.
    • Ability to conduct and communicate results of complex statistical analyses of compensation data for ease of understanding by HR practitioners, compensation professionals, and legal counsel.
    • Strong public speaking skills on topics related to statistical analysis of compensation data.
    • Strong project management and organization skills.
    • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    • PhD or Master's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or Labor Economics.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Verifiable experience using statistics to help organizations make HR related decisions (Talent Management, Performance Management, Selection, etc.) Statistics background must include experience performing Multiple Regression, Parametric and Non-Parametric Tests. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Verifiable experience using advanced statistical techniques and algorithms to review compensation disparity, diversity and inclusion strategies, and/or starting pay algorithms.
    • Travel (up to 5-10%) may be required.  No travel will be required during the current health pandemic in a manner that is inconsistent with existing CDC and state health guidelines.
