Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), provides direct resident care as delegated, and assists the RN in the delivery of resident care utilizing the nursing process as appropriate to the geriatric resident. Participants in resident care services as directed by a supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures the care and safety of all residents in the nursing unit
• Ensures that individual care plans are followed
• Administers and documents medications, treatments, and other nursing services
• Makes a count of controlled substances on the assigned nursing unit
• Records current condition of each assigned resident.
• Receives and gives an accurate report of the resident condition at shift change
• Communicates to the nursing team and medical provider as indicated and required
• As sists in the orientation of new staff
• Maintains competency in all the tasks.

License/Certification:

• CPR Certification
• LPN License
