Betsy Tanner LLC is an adoption and probate law firm in the small town of Fountain Inn, SC. We are legal counsel with a personal touch. We provide the legal counsel and expert guidance families need throughout the adoptive or probate process, setting the mind at ease and the future in motion. Currently we have one lawyer and one administrative assistant who is also the legal assistant for our probate practice. The firm is looking to complement our team with an additional legal assistant for our adoption practice.
Adoption Paralegal Job Responsibilities:
• Drafts all adoption related legal documents
• Communicates with our adoption clients
• Manages all adoption clients including spreadsheets of past and current clients
• Familiar with and engaged in each adoption case
• Trial preparation for contested cases
• Research on adoption related issues when needed
• Communicates with other attorneys and Guardian ad Litem offices
• Applies for the special needs adoption reimbursement on behalf of clients
• Schedules adoption hearings with the appropriate docketing clerk
• Sends annual Christmas card
• Answers phone calls, schedules meetings and supports clients
• Exhibits polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
• Engages in the law firm’s social media accounts by postings, interactions, and following up with anniversaries
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Supports team by performing tasks related to organization and strong communication
• Carries out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, mailing, postage
Work hours: Majority afternoon in-office hours at 20 hours a week with future growth opportunities. Beginning rate: TBD

Education and Experience Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent education required
• Knowledge of appropriate software including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Dropbox, Adobe Acrobat, and various social media platforms
• Valid driver’s license
• Litigation Paralegal experience preferred
• Family Law experience preferred
