    Better Nutritionals, LLC, a premium gummy manufacturer providing innovative pectin-based nutritional gummy products that are created to improve the quality of our customers’ lives; is seeking to add a leader to our team as our company accelerates on an exciting growth curve.

    This leader, a position more traditionally called: Supply Chain Manager, will have overall responsibility for:

    • Inventory Management
    • Purchasing Activities
    • Warehouse Operations
    • Operations Reporting
    • Work Order Operations support for execution
    • Managing product-to-customer operations

    This leadership candidate will have effective experience in the food and beverage industry. This leader must understand how to operate efficiently and effectively in a regulated environment. Command of the areas of purchasing, contracts, bids, distribution and storage, MRO, Kanban systems and related are foundational to the role. Specifically, experience with NetSuite ERP, is a very big plus for the candidate.

    The scope of the role, in the context of people, will be responsible for the warehouse team, manufacturing reporting team, and growing supply chain operations with the business. BN’s business operations must be lean and efficient, executing with excellence, and delivering on the goals for providing our customers with the highest quality nutritional gummies in the industry On Time, In Full. Understanding and managing the cost of operations will be requisite for achieving business objectives and goals. Establishing performance metrics that both motivate our team and provide insight to the leadership team will be expected.

    REQUIREMENTS FOR A QUALIFIED CANDIDATE FOR THE POSITION:

    As a small but rapidly growing firm, any leader in this organization must be committed to demonstrating the ability to “jump in” and do what is necessary to achieve the BN standards and deliver to our customers, while possessing the maturity to know when to step back, assess, and lead their organization.

    • Better Nutritionals is a start-up company and growing quickly. A manager in BN must be able to self-identify the needs of the business, from a supply chain aspect, translate those needs to simple and clear actions, and execute with excellence
    • Significant experience in: manufacturing, planning, supply chain, distribution and ERP in the food and beverage industry is key.
    • The equivalent of 7+ years of increasing responsibility in the area of supply chain or its foundational disciplines is expected.
    • A bachelor-level degree in business, supply chain, or related. Higher-level degrees a plus.
    • Supply Chain certifications are also viewed as a big plus for candidates. (e.g. APICS or CSCP), and a strong indicator of professional progression.
    • A strong background in planning multi-shift production operations will be extremely helpful in this role, to ensure uninterrupted supply of materials to manufacturing.
    • Experience in vendor selection, bidding/contracts, partnering with QA for vendor qualification and a basic understanding of regulatory requirements that apply to the SC role are expected.
    • Experience using, setting user requirements and/or implementing an ERP for supply chain at BN (BN is using NetSuite), setting planning factors for MRP in NetSuite, execution of tasks, as aligned with the positions (e.g. purchase order or inventory management) in NetSuite.
    • Knowledge of effective inventory management techniques, resulting in cost-effective inventory management, safety stock management and storage management is core to the candidate executing the role with optimal financial performance.
    • Clear, concise communication skills: Listening, speaking and writing, actively engaging with the BN team to facilitate execution of business requirements, will be an asset to a strong candidate. The role requires clear written and verbal communication skills, which will augment the strong emphasis on leadership in the role. All good leaders must have good listening skills.
    • With Norco operations initiating (or ongoing) intercompany transfer of inventory, without disruption to operations is critical. Cost management and resource management commensurate with uninterrupted supply is an integral part of the role.
    • The position will require an active working relationship with Sales operations to ensure that customers are able to get their product as agreed-upon in their contract with BN.
    • On-going monitor inventory levels to avoid outages, expensive over-night replenishment, and general cost-effective uninterrupted supply to manufacturing
    • Knowledge of overall inventory cost/capitalized inventory and MRO will be needed to establish financial targets for the business. Working knowledge of this information will be needed to execute the position responsibilities
    • Clear, simple and concise metrics are to be used and/or created to provide demonstration of performance in the areas of responsibilities. Examples could be: incoming freight costs, rental storage space costs, warehouse personnel overtime, metrics on manufacturing interruptions due to supply gaps, and others.
    • Managers need to have the skills to back-fill people in their area of responsibility as needed to avoid disruption to operations due to one of the supply chain employees not being able to work or has been diverted to other priorities.
    • Spreadsheet and reporting skills are also desirable for the candidate to command.
    • Experience in working closely with customers, suppliers, integrating customer requirements evolving in a customer-centric business are core to the role.
    • Fluency in both English and Spanish are very desirable.

    OTHER WORK-RELATED EXPECTATIONS:

    40+ hour, 5-day work week, with work schedules requiring some weekend work and off-shift work coverage. The business can operate 7 days per week, and there are times where leadership support of these operations will be required.

    This is primarily an office-based role, however being present in the warehouse and other areas of plant operations will be needed. There are requirements to be in the direct manufacturing and warehouse locations. Warehousing and Manufacturing can expose an employee to high-temperature equipment, kettles, piping and noise. When in these areas, walking will be required, along with compliance with all GMP and PPE requirements.

    The positions will require work on the computer, reading, time management, sitting, standing and walking through areas, phone work, phone meetings, computer-based meetings, writing, typing, and general office work. When not in the office, walking and observing operations will be part of the execution of the job. The split between these two will be determined by the needs of the business at any particular time. Better Nutritionals has secured a new manufacturing facility that is currently under development in Norco, CA.

    Better Nutritionals will be developing this facility to expand manufacturing operations, several fold. This site will likely be the larger operation in the future and the likely hub for the business’ Leadership. Working at Norco, as the primary location for the role or a secondary location, if based in Gardena, needs to be considered as part of executing the role effectively.
