    SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: 

    The Language Advisor is a paid, hourly contractor position that is responsible for reviewing translated transcripts, voiceover recordings and videos. We depend on this person to guide our localization in regards to cultural, linguistic and theological considerations. We rely on the Advisor regarding innuendo, jokes and larger considerations when it comes to cultural responses to tone, voiceover selection and so on. The Language Advisor is the gatekeeper for every stage of the process to ensure quality and accuracy of localized content.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    In addition to assisting with evaluating localization work samples and advising about translated key terms and voiceover tone, the Language Advisor will review all content throughout the four critical phases of the localization process: 

    • Translated Text

    • Voiceover Recordings

    • Illustrated Onscreen Text

    • Final Video

    APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

    • Available to review content for approximately 10-15 hours per week for 14-18 months.

    • 2+ years of paid translation experience of Christian/biblical content

    • Degree in Theology, Linguistics, or related field 

    • Extensive biblical training and/or background in Bible-teaching ministry

    • First-hand knowledge of life and culture in a country where the target language is spoken; preferably having spent the majority of adulthood in that country

    • First-hand knowledge of American culture and language

    • Strong familiarity with BibleProject resources and mission

    • Reliable internet connection, personal work computer, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Email, and ability to learn/use new platforms
