SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: 

The Farsi Language Advisor is a paid, hourly contractor position that is responsible for reviewing translated transcripts, voiceover recordings and videos. We depend on this person to ensure and make adaptive adjustments so that all aspects of our localized content are accurate, culturally sensitive, theologically faithful and tonally appropriate. We rely on the Farsi Language Advisor to further contextualize connotations, figurative language or humor into the target language. The Farsi Language Advisor provides timely feedback, recommends edits, and assists in questions and challenges with our production teams to guarantee quality and accuracy at every stage of the production process. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to evaluating Farsi localization work samples and advising about translated key terms and voiceover tone, the Farsi Language Advisor will review all content throughout the four critical phases of the localization process: 

• Translated Text

• Voiceover Recordings

• Illustrated Onscreen Text

• Final Video

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

• Available to review content for approximately 10-15 hours per week for 14-18 months.

• Native speaker of the target language.

• 2+ years of professional paid translation, translation editing, copyediting, and/or multilingual publishing experience. Experience translating Christian/biblical content preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in Theology, Literature, Journalism,Linguistics, Social Science or related Humanities field.

• Extensive biblical knowledge, training, and/or background in Bible-teaching ministry.

• First-hand knowledge of life and culture in a country where the target language is spoken.

• Extensive cross-cultural and multilingual professional experience. A clear and empathetic communicator in diverse environments.

• Near-native proficiency in English and first-hand knowledge of American culture and language.

• Strong familiarity with BibleProject resources and mission.

• Strong media fluency and capacity to creatively evaluate audio/video productions.

• Reliable internet connection, personal work computer, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, and ability to learn/use new platforms.
