GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Physical Therapist (PT), Supervising Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), or the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), the Physical Therapy Clerk/Technician will be responsible for: clerical duties that support the Physical Therapy Department, the provision of participant exercise programs, and activities that support departmental maintenance, supply inventory, and the preparation of treatment areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the participants scheduling for Assessments, reassessments, Physician consults and Service Delivery Requests.
- Effectively track and maintain skilled treatment scheduling changes.
- Coordinate and prepare the daily spreadsheet for Maintenance Exercise Programs.
- Collect and distribute all applicable information from the portal, to include monthly meetings, daily participant absences, and scheduled participant appointments.
- Assist with updating the PT department orders tracking on Prime Suite.
- Prepare supply orders, complete of e-requests, and transportation requests.
- Contact participants and families as needed. Answer phone. Take messages.
- Attend facility and departmental staff meetings and department specific onsite in-service training.
- Prepare participant area for treatment.
- Assist the participants to complete the Home Exercise Program issued by the PT according to the State Practice Act and APTA standards of practice.
- Communicate participant changes/complaints to the PT or PTA.
- Maintain and clean equipment according to the manufacturer or regulator guidelines.
- Assist participants with following and performing the issued Home Exercise Program (ROM, stretching and strengthening in supine, sitting, or standing).
- Take vital signs.
- Complete documentation of Home Exercise Programs in a timely manner.
- Any and all other tasks assigned or specifically delegated by the employee’s supervisor.
Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Skill to work well with staff, participants, and family members.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge and typing preferred.
- Ability to meet Bienvivir’s conditions of employment regarding pre-employment clearance and provision of professional references.
- Must be able to accept personal responsibility for maintaining a professional relationship with Bienvivir’s participants and their families.
- Accept responsibility for maintaining an organized work environment.
- Leadership ability and skills required for effective telephone and interpersonal communication.
- Use of Microsoft an electronic medical record documentation.
Required Experience
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CNA or certified rehabilitation aide preferred.
- One-year experience with a frail or elderly population required.
- Current CPR and Food Handlers Card.
