ASSISTANT PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR
FUNCTION:
- Assumes responsibility of the Program Administrator in his/her absence.
- Collaborates with the Program Administrator in the supervision and evaluation of the program so that it meets all the qualifications necessary for accreditation by the Council on Accreditation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports to Program Administrator.
- Assumes leadership role in absence of Program Administrator.
- Upholds the philosophy mission, beliefs, and ethics of the program.
- Works closely with the Program Administrator to plan, direct and coordinate all activities relative to the School of Nurse Anesthesia.
- Works in collaboration with Clinical Preceptors at primary clinical site to design clinical experiences which complement classroom experiences.
- Assist Program Administrator in defining course objectives, developing curriculum and evaluation tools in conjunction with RICSON.
- Works in coordination and collaboration with the Clinical Instructors/Preceptors.
- Motivates, directs and evaluates the performance of students
- Assists in developing and evaluating the curriculum and program design.
- Participates in developing criteria for admission and selection of students.
- Collaborates with the Program Administrator in organizing, planning and implementing didactic instruction.
- Supervises and evaluates students while participating in clinical preceptorship.
- Attends all scheduled committee meetings.
- Attend the Assembly of School Faculty meeting and may attend the AANA Annual Meeting.
- Assist with the interim and self study reports required by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
- Assists with duties related to graduating students.
- Assumes responsibility for self-improvement and self-evaluation by active participation in professional organization and by formal/informal education, keeping abreast of advances in professional technology and clinical practice.
- Attends anesthesia in-services and student presentations.
- Allowed adequate time, as defined by the COA, to accomplish administrative work.
Required Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
Current certification by NBCRNA
Must hold an earned graduate degree from an accredited institution of higher education, doctoral degree preferred or in progress.
Current Licensure State of RI
Must hold an earned graduate degree from an accredited institution of higher education, doctoral degree preferred or in progress.
Required Experience
Must have a thorough background in the specialty of nurse anesthesia that meet the requirements for an accredited anesthesia program. Should have a special interest and knowledge in teaching as it relates to the program. Two years of clinical/didactic teaching experience preferred.
