Summary Description:
The Technical Sales Representative, Cartonboard (TSRC) provides proactive dedicated field technical support to Billerud folding carton converter and brand owner customers. The TSRC provides support specifically for Billerud’s CrownBoard Cartonboard offering. The position provides unparalleled levels of collaboration and guidance to achieve solutions to business problems, including, but not limited to, the printing and conversion of CrownBoard into folding cartons or other finished products. Key customers are Billerud’s direct folding carton converters, brand owners, and internal stakeholders including Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Product Development, and Customer Service. Key activities include: monitor product trials at customer locations; provide technical guidance to customers on the conversion of CrownBoard products versus domestically-produced SBS or CUK; report on competitive activity, runnability, convertability, and printability in assigned converter locations, and serve as a technical resource for customers, sales, and the mills.
Key Accountabilities:
o Act as the liaison between customers, sales, and converting locations and the BEU/BNA manufacturing organization for questions related to product performance.
o Support product trials at folding carton converters that support BNA business development
o Provide technical guidance to customers that improve conversion efficiency of CrownBoard grades, particularly relative to incumbent NA SBS and CUK.
o Respond to specific problems when notified, and resolves them to mutual interests of pressroom, customer, and Billerud.
The TSRC monitors trials to ensure the product meets customer expectations.
o Functions as a trial coordinator.
o Works with operations or sales to meet objectives of the trial.
o Communicates the results of the trial.
The TSRC acts as a technical resource to key internal customers listed above.
o Supplies product information concerning specifications, and critical property targets.
o Gains information about emerging technology, new equipment, and new grades
o Acts as an extension of the sales function by maintaining a working partnership with sales and marketing.
o Seeks to position our products such that they are requested and specified by folding carton converters and brand owners
o Reports on a regular basis, competitive activity, runnability, convertibility, and printability in assigned customer locations to identify threats and opportunities.
The TSRC also provides training to customers concerning paper manufacturing and performance attributes, as well as to Billerud mills in printing and converting technology.
o Continuously must improve skills to stay current in new technology, databases, etc.
o Promotes best practice sharing across mills and modeling continuous improvement through TSRC/Mill communication meetings.
o Actively supports and drives participation in the company-sponsored Paper School.

Required Experience
Minimum Required Experience and Education:
· Prefer BA/BS degree in Packaging Engineering, Paper Engineering/Science, Graphic Arts, Chemistry or equivalent experience including post-secondary education in sciences, technology, engineering, graphic arts, and management.
· Demonstrated professional experience in paper, packaging and/or printing technology.
· Strong interpersonal skills and a strong record of relationship building.
· Technical employment background with other suppliers to the folding carton industry.
· Strong communication skills.
