    The Big Thought team is looking for a key personnel member that will guide and support overall youth education program safety policies and procedures for the Thriving Minds Programs. This role will be tasked with creating, developing and overseeing policies and procedures that will be implemented at each of their respective campus locations. This role will have direct reports that will support with ensuring appropriate measures are being applied and implemented at the site level.

    Position Details: Academic Year (January 2021 – June 2021)

    Hours - 20 Hours per week

    Rate – $45 -$50 Per Hour

    Job Description:

    MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

    Establish and Oversee Big Thoughts medical & health operations strategy.

    Create and manage programs and processes aligned to the treatment of minor illness and injuries.

    Manage and lead Health Site Guide team members assigned and all Big Thought TMAS campuses.

    OPERATIONAL STRATEGIC PLANNING – Health & Safety

    To identify, implement and evaluate Big Thought’s health care strategy as it relates to health and safety measures for in-school time and out of school time programs.

    Help to create, identity and evaluate all medical and student well-being policies, procedures and protocols.

    Lead effort to implement policies, procedures and protocols by communicating and training staff.

    Actively work with Program Leadership to develop COVID specific policies and best practices.

    Organize and deliver appropriate medical staff training

    Ensure teaching and support staff have appropriate awareness and understanding of the common medical conditions in the school.

    Coordinate/manage the process of the ordering and allocation of equipment and materials in relation to medical requirements

    Deliver all medical information and medical procedures to new staff members via the orientation process.

    Ensure medical team has process that provide accurate and complete records of student consultation consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.

    Prioritize health problems and intervening appropriately to complex, urgent or emergency situations, including the initiation of effective emergency care.

    Regularly conduct program site visits to engage and train team and ensure proper implementation of developed procedures and protocols.

    Core Functions

    Risk Management

    Create, oversee and manage processes that ensure work area and practices are safe and free from hazards and conform to health, safety and security legislation, policies and guidelines.

    Be the Subject Matter Expert in processes development as it pertains to program health processes and guidelines.

    Maintain processes to ensure tracking and reporting of on-site safety incidents and accidents as it pertains to youth education programs.

    Ensure infection control measures are adhered to in line with local and national guidelines.

    Staff Development

    Develop and lead staff policy training and development, as it pertains to health and safety policies and procedures.

    Communication

    Acts as Big Thoughts primary contact on all matters of Health and Safety for TMAS programming.

    Act as liaison between TMAS Program leadership and student parents as it pertains to health and safety matters, policies and procedures.

    Regular and frequent contact with students, parents, members of staff and some contact with outside agencies.

    In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, further daily support is necessary in overseeing the daily management of program (site specific) medical needs. This role will be charged with the effective oversight and support of 7 – 10 campus locations where programming with be conducted. This role, will also serve as the manager to all associated Big Thought Health & Safety Site personnel.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited licensed practical nurse program.

    Licensing: Must hold a current RN license in the state of Texas

    Experience: Two (2) Years successful experience

    Must have leadership experience

    Must have a working knowledge of computers

    Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing

    Must possess interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy

    Purpose Statement

    Teach in all aspects of Big Thought programs, including but not limited to Dallas ISD schools, Garland ISD schools, professional development workshops (including summer and custom sessions), and other special events.
