    JOB SUMMARY

    The Human Resources (HR) Manager is accountable for a wide range of professional-level HR leadership and individual contributor responsibilities. The HR Manager serves as a leader, overseeing and mentoring the HR team in process improvement initiatives, project management, performance/compensation management, talent acquisition, and total rewards. The HR Manager serves as an individual contributor, providing HR partner support for designated client groups and policy/procedure/process creation and enhancement.

    This individual works closely with the Senior Director of Human Resources in leading the HR team, driving the employee experience, and ensuring effectiveness in all aspects of the employee life cycle.  They support our employee-first culture and exemplify our core values of relationships, development, quality, and responsibility. 

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

    • Actively participates in business meetings and provides strategic solutions. Demonstrates a spirit to serve the needs of business partners and assists them in achieving desired outcomes.
    • Works with business partners to maintain a strong culture and enhance the employee experience.
    • Formally and informally seeks and responds to employee feedback from various surveys and modalities.    
    • Provides employee relations guidance, including conducting investigations, coaching, corrective action, performance improvement plans, and other support as needed.
    • Maintains strong knowledge of employment law and employee relations best practices.
    • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal, state, and local legislation and requirements.
    • Enforces adherence to legal requirements, advising management on needed actions.

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT

    • Works closely with supervisor and team in developing the annual HR Business Plan. Drives execution of departmental objectives, goals, strategies, and initiatives.
    • Envisions, develops, and implements new strategies to address complex business issues. Recommends new approaches to improve effectiveness of the department and the services provided.
    • Plays a key role in leading various HR projects, change initiatives, and multi-departmental initiatives.
    • Leads the team in development and revision of employee handbook, policies, and procedures.

    PERFORMANCE/COMPENSATION MANAGEMENT

    • Provides guidance and support to the HR Specialist in managing Semi-Annual Performance Conversations and Annual Compensation Reviews. Provides training and communication for managers and employees. Provides guidance and status updates throughout the entire process.  
    • Participates in wage surveys and conducts market analysis to define and update salary bands, grades, and ranges.
    • Works closely with business partners to ensure compensation strategy aligns with budget.

    TALENT ACQUISITION

    • Oversees all aspects of Talent Acquisition efforts and supervises the Talent Acquisition Specialist.
    • Provides full cycle recruiting support to assigned client groups.
    • Ensures strong and proactive communication with business partners regarding sourcing and recruiting efforts, especially with hard-to-fill positions.
    • Creates strong partnerships and maintains ownership of Talent Acquisition vendor relationships.
    • Fully utilizes and trains HR team and business partners in ATS system.
    • Leverages technology to provide metrics and reports necessary to make data-driven decisions.

     

    TOTAL REWARDS

    • Manages HRIS and related systems, regularly identifying ways to maximize use of current technology.
    • Supports our employee-first culture and guides the HR Specialist in evaluating, enhancing, leveraging, and communicating our robust employee benefits offerings.
    • Works closely with Payroll and our investment committee to play a key role in 401(k) communication, management, and compliance.
    • Identifies ways to expand utilization of HR analytics.

    QUALIFICATIONS _EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:    _

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required. MBA or Master's degree in Human Resources or related field strongly preferred. 
    • SHRM-CP or PHR certification or ability to obtain certification within twelve months is required.  
    • Six or more years of HR Generalist or HR Business Partner experience required.
    • HR experience in Multi-Family Housing, Hotel, or Retail industries strongly preferred.
    • Must have a proven track record with employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, and HR reporting.  
    • Well-developed team skills, unquestionable integrity, and the experience, confidence, and command presence to effectively build strong business relationships and effectively address difficult HR matters.
    • Experience utilizing ADP HR Information System and Greenhouse Applicant Tracking/Onboarding desirable.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Fluent in English and skilled in oral and written communication
    • Ability to use tact and diplomacy in a clear, courteous manner when dealing with co-workers and the public

    • Working knowledge of HRIS system(s)
    • Working knowledge of FMLA, ERISA, ADA, and applicable federal and state laws to ensure Company compliance.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
