    About Tandem

    Tandem is a rapidly growing startup with a unique community-focused approach to micromobility. Like our name implies we want to serve as trusted advisors to our partner cities, collaborating with them to ensure successful bike share and scooter programs. We are teamed up with Movatic, a premium software platform that enables users to rent bikes, scooters, and other assets and allows cities and operators to seamlessly manage their micromobility systems. We are excited to be operating Bike Share in Southfield, MI and believe our offering will make bike share easy and accessible for the Southfield community. We also expect to launch additional programs in the region over the next year.

    The Details

    You will be the face of our program locally, and an integral part of ensuring a successful system. We want you to be as passionate about your community as you are about the bikes you service. We will give you the tools to make sure you can do the job efficiently and effectively. And we also want you to treat the fleet as your own; we will provide incentives based on performance and growth.

    We are in the process of relaunch campaign in the spring. We are excited to partner with you to help the community partner with this relaunching and managing the bikeshare program and conduct a bi-weekly maintenance visit.

    About this Position:

    The Bike Mechanic position is integral to the success of the Southfield Bikeshare. Each bike mechanic on the team will be responsible for evaluating, repairing, and maintaining both traditional geared cruiser bikes.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    ● Ensuring all bikes receive routine maintenance every two weeks.
    ● Performing in field maintenance on pedal bikes
    ● Performing more complex repairs in the ops space.
    ● Communicating with local Operations Manager about parts as needed to minimize downtime for each bike.

    ● Rebalancing bikes as needed.

    Requirements:
    Mechanical

    ● We are not necessarily looking for a master mechanic, but we need someone who can do quality, safe, and repeatable work. We want somebody who holds themselves to a high standard: proactively identifying issues, creating plans for resolution, and escalating any parts or additional requests in a timely manner to the local Operations Manager.

    ● Ability to lift and transport several 40 pound bikes depending on need.
    ● Ability to use a smartphone and camera to communicate over phone calls, text, email.
    ● Ability to travel and transport bikes between locations as necessary.

    Professional:

    ● Ability to keep oneself accountable to a set of goals, and schedule themselves accordingly.
    ● Strong communication skills, willingness to communicate status updates and context.
    ● Flexibility to work with varying schedules and workloads.
    ● Detail focused and good judgment/common sense, able to make some decisions on one's own without full information.
    ● Able to think critically and proactively to escalate concerns and ideas.
    ● Able to be a professional and friendly public face for Tandem while out and about.
