About the Role:

New Orleans Smiles is looking for a skilled and passionate Bilingual (English/Spanish) Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) to join our full-time team in Metairie, LA! This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in patients' lives by delivering exceptional dental care in a welcoming, bilingual environment.

Responsibilities:

Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of dental procedures including restorations, extractions, and preventive care

Perform expanded duty functions as permitted by Louisiana state EDDA certification

Communicate effectively with English- and Spanish-speaking patients to explain procedures and post-op instructions

Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) following safety protocols

Prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and operatory equipment

Record patient medical histories, treatment notes, and updates in dental practice management software

Provide compassionate patient education on oral hygiene and treatment plans

Requirements:

Active Louisiana EDDA (Expanded Duty Dental Assistant) certification required

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish — both written and verbal

1+ years dental assisting experience preferred

Radiography certification or X-ray licensure required

Familiarity with dental practice management software (Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar)

Strong interpersonal skills with a patient-centered, compassionate approach

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented dental office environment
