Peña & Kahn, PLLC an expanding personal injury law firm is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate has direct experience handling Workers' Compensation cases from inception to closure, with a strong, working knowledge of WCB regulations and procedures. Major responsibilities of the Workers’ Compensation Legal Assistant will include, but will not be limited to, summarizing medical records and providing paralegal support through all phases of litigation, including drafting appropriate motions, written discovery, pleadings, etc., The ideal candidate must have experience and knowledge of handling claims with the New York State Worker's Compensation Board.

Key responsibilities included but limited to:

1. Open and close files
2. Maintain digital/physical case files and log medical records, bills, and hearing notices.
3. Assist in preparing and filing legal forms with the Board, including C-3s, RFA-1s, C-4s, PH-16.2, and appeals.
4. Schedule client's WCB hearing, client meetings and IME's
5. Draft, proofread, and prepare legal correspondence, exhibits and hearing packets
6. Act as primary point of contact for clients, medical offices, insurance carriers and opposing counsel.

Required Qualifications:

1. Microsoft Office proficiency and case management software
2. Demonstrated familiarity with New York State Workers' Comp Board procedures and ECF filing.
3. Exceptional organizational skills
4. Ability to manage high-volume case loads
5. Proficiency in legal document preparation
6. Team player and client service oriented
