Key Responsibilities
- Probate Administration: Draft and file petitions with Georgia Probate Courts, manage estate inventories, and coordinate the distribution of assets.
- Document Production & Archiving: Scanning, binding, and organizing physical estate planning portfolios, ensuring the client leaves with a high-quality, professional legacy binder.
- Legal Research & Due Diligence: Conduct targeted research into Georgia probate law and property records to support the drafting of customized estate plans and petitions.
- Direct Principal Support: Act as a proactive liaison for attorneys, providing regular briefings on case progression and ensuring all "to-do" items are tracked and executed without the need for oversight.
- Case Management: Maintain organized digital and physical files, ensuring that deadlines are met with precision and thoughtfulness rather than frantic urgency.
- Estate Planning Support: Assist in the preparation of Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney, ensuring every detail reflects the client's specific wishes.
- Client Advocacy: Serve as the primary, empathetic point of contact for Spanish- and English-speaking families, translating complex legal concepts into understandable, comforting guidance.
- Quarterly Participation: Be an active member of the quarterly meetings, updating on client cases and calling to attention any to-do list items or potential issues the firm needs to address.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with our attorneys and staff in a supportive environment where "asking for help" is seen as a strength, not a weakness.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Native Spanish Speaker: Must be able to conduct client meetings and explain legal documents in Spanish and English.
- Legal Experience: 5+ years as a Paralegal in Georgia (Probate, Estate Planning, Litigation, Family Law, or Personal Injury).
- Georgia Procedures: Familiarity with Georgia court filing systems - Odyssey Efile Georgia.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Case Management Software (Wealthcouncil, TrueState, Lawmatics ) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Education: Paralegal Certificate or relevant work experience required.
