Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate bilingual (Spanish-speaking) Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. Bilingual in Spanish is required for this role. This position is a 1099 contract. The ideal candidate for this role will provide comprehensive psychiatric care services to diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and those in acute care settings. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), you will conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, diagnose mental health conditions, develop treatment plans, prescribe psychotropic medications, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic, patient-centered care. Your role will span a variety of clinical environments, including outpatient clinics, inpatient settings, and telehealth platforms, with an emphasis on delivering compassionate, evidence-based care. You will also ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations while utilizing advanced clinical expertise and a strong understanding of mental health disorders. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems is required.

    Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental status evaluations, reviewing medical and psychiatric history, and assessing vital signs for psychiatric concerns.

Diagnose and treat a broad range of psychiatric and mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and trauma-related conditions, across diverse patient populations (e.g., pediatrics, geriatrics, adults).

Prescribe psychotropic medications and manage psychiatric pharmacotherapy, including monitoring for side effects, efficacy, and adjustments based on patient needs.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care, providing case management, crisis intervention, and coordination of care with mental health professionals, social workers, and family members.

Educate patients and families on mental health management, coping strategies, and medication adherence, while focusing on patient-centered care for mental health issues like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and schizophrenia.

Manage telehealth consultations, providing remote psychiatric services and care management through secure telehealth platforms, ensuring access to care for patients with limited mobility or those in underserved areas.

Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR/EHR systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring proper mental health documentation and treatment plans.

Maintain infection control protocols and ensure appropriate sanitization and aseptic techniques in clinical and telehealth settings.

    Skills:

Advanced knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, treatment protocols, psychopharmacology, and therapeutic interventions across various mental health conditions.

Proficiency in assessing mental health disorders using diagnostic tools and standardized evaluation methods (e.g., DSM-5 criteria).

Experience with psychiatric EMR/EHR systems and ICD-10 coding for accurate medical documentation, treatment plans, and billing practices specific to mental health care.

Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to make rapid assessments and decisions in high-pressure situations, particularly in psychiatric crises or emergency settings.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds and those with developmental or intellectual disabilities.

Familiarity with mental health-related medical procedures such as medication administration and other interventions as appropriate for psychiatric care.

Compassionate approach to geriatric mental health care, including expertise in dementia, Alzheimer's care, and managing the unique challenges of aging patients with mental health concerns.

Telehealth experience in conducting remote psychiatric assessments, therapy, and follow-ups.

This role requires a PMHNP who is skilled in both advanced clinical care and compassionate communication, with a strong commitment to providing patient-centered mental health services across diverse settings.
