Responsibilities as a Billing Specialist :

• Understand billing rules and utilizing payer contracts to bill for multiple facilities
• Research outstanding claims with third party payors.
• Review claim issues and make corrections as needed to rebill
• Generate monthly patient statements
• Assist with denials, billing projects, and any rebilling required according to the policies and procedures
• Work with front office staff and insurance team in insuring accuracy of patient information
• Work with medical/therapy staff to ensure coding and documentation are accurate
• Generate monthly patient statements
• Handle communication with third party payors or patients
• Understand and be able to communicate insurance eligibility
• Report all irregularities to Billing Manager and work with Billing Manager on all concerns including aged accounts receivables
• Cross train in functions related to cash collection, applications, and patient accounts

Qualifications:

• High school graduate, GED or equivalent.

• Experience with data entry

• General knowledge of billing and accounting practices with 1 to 2 years medical billing experience (preferred)

• Experience with electronic medical records

• Strong knowledge of MS office/excel

• Knowledge of CPT, ICD10-CM, and HCPCS codes (preferred)

• Detail oriented and able to be accurate with little supervision

• Ability to work in team setting

• Good verbal and written communication

• Able to work with diverse populations
