Your Impact as a Biomedical Equipment Technician
As a BMET, you’ll ensure the performance and safety of critical medical devices that support patient care. From advanced troubleshooting and maintenance to mentoring junior staff and managing vendor relations, you’ll play a key role in keeping clinical operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Functions:
Perform repair, testing, and calibration of complex medical and diagnostic equipment.
Install and configure new biomedical systems.
Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
Assess demonstration units and deliver detailed performance evaluations.
Provide end-user training on equipment operation and safety.
Investigate root causes of equipment failures and recommend long-term solutions.
Administrative Functions:
Maintain accurate records through Clinical Engineering databases.
Lead and support technical projects and field assignments.
Communicate with vendors, OEM reps, and internal departments for technical support.
Stay current with evolving technologies through ongoing training and research.
Participate in on-call rotations for emergency support.
Qualifications You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering \+ 2+ years of relevant experience, OR
Associate’s degree in Biomedical, Electronics, or Computer Technology + 4+ years of hands-on experience
Solid working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, physiology, and medical sciences
ICC Certification (preferred)
Ability to lift and transport equipment as needed
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
