    POSITION SUMMARY

    Responsible for a variety of administrative duties at CMIT including processing insurance claim forms and securing maximum reimbursement for patients and the Center. Acts as backup for other imaging administrative positions as needed.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    Timely review of EOBs and insurance denials; refiling ad appealing denials as necessary.

    Timely submission of patient statements.

    Timely follow up on patient accounts and submission of collection letters as required by CMIT's policies.

    Primary point of contact for patient questions regarding billing.

    On-going and timely follow-up on claims that have not been paid within 45 days of filing.

    Draft and send appeal letters to insurance carriers as appropriate.

    Post payments and reconcile imaging accounts.

    Work with Imaging Administrative Coordinator on problem claims and accounts.

    Provide back up for other imaging administrative roles.

    Candidate will be expected to discuss claims, EOBs, payments, policies and scheduling issues with insurance carriers and patients and to communicate and coordinate with referring physicians for pre-authorization and scheduling issues.

    The candidate will be expected to research and identify methods for improvements in billing and collection policies and procedures at CMIT as well as implement billing procedures for new clinical and research procedures.

    Additional responsibilities include answering phone calls and other inquiries, handling patient encounters, preparing monthly financial analysis reports, assisting with special projects, and other typical administrative duties commonly found in medical practices.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Experience with medical billing, handling accounts receivable, and ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS coding is required. Must be familiar with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance carrier policies and procedures. Good grasp of medical terminology also desired. Specific training in institutional systems will be provided as needed.

    Must be able to proficiently utilize computers and office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    Ideal candidate is highly organized, detail attentive, and able to communicate effectively in both written and oral communications. Ideal candidate will have experience in radiology/nuclear medicine billing in an independent diagnostic testing facility (ITDF) and/or physician directed practice.
