    Job Description

    As a Bioprocess Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of our small-scale and pilot-scale laboratories. Your contributions will directly support cell culture process development, scale-up, and technology transfer efforts. This hands-on position involves both technical execution and documentation in alignment with GMP/GxP principles.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Operate, maintain, and calibrate upstream processing equipment, including balances, pH meters, dissolved oxygen probes, and bioreactors (both single-use and stainless steel).
    • Set up, assemble, sterilize, and disassemble bioreactors and associated hardware for perfusion and fed-batch runs.
    • Prepare and autoclave media, buffers, and reagents using sterile techniques and in compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Inoculate, monitor, and sample shake flasks and bioreactors throughout various stages of the upstream process.
    • Execute cell culture studies to support process development, scale-up, and tech transfer, under the guidance of senior scientists or engineers.
    • Maintain detailed, timely, and accurate documentation in Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) in accordance with data integrity and GMP/GxP guidelines (as applicable).
    • Draft and revise protocols and process summary documents; review and finalize experimental data and records.
    • Support lab inventory management, maintain equipment logbooks, and assist in compliance tracking to ensure uninterrupted lab operations.
    • Participate in troubleshooting, deviation reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing process reliability, lab workflows, and overall efficiency.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a life science or engineering discipline with 1–2 years of relevant laboratory experience, or a Master’s degree in a related field.
    • Must have authorization to work in the United States on a permanent, unrestricted basis.

    Technical Skills & Experience:

    • Direct, hands-on experience performing cell culture studies in small-scale or pilot lab environments.
    • Proficient in the assembly, disassembly, and cleaning of bioreactors, including associated probes and hardware.
    • Skilled in setting up and maintaining single-use and stainless steel bioreactors for upstream processing.
    • Experience with inoculation, feeding, and sampling of bioreactors and shake flasks.
    • Competent in sample analysis using standard analytical instruments and compiling resulting data.
    • Familiar with cell culture maintenance, including passaging and monitoring of cell health.
    • Experienced in calibrating probes, autoclaving bioreactors, and preparing media and reagents under aseptic conditions.
    • Comfortable working with data acquisition systems such as MFCS, DeltaV, and ambr for real-time trend monitoring.
    • Proficient in documenting work using Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) in accordance with data integrity and compliance standards.
