    Job Description

    ABOUT THE JOB

    Busy boutique estate planning and estate administration law firm located in Northwest DC has an immediate opening for a full-time Trust & Estates Legal Assistant.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    -        Receive, open, log, and scan all incoming mail

    -        Sort and distribute incoming mail

    -        Prepare binders that organize a clients’ signed estate planning documents

    -        Scan, save and appropriately store client documents

    -        Provide administrative support to attorneys by scheduling meetings, answering phones, and sending meeting reminders to clients

    -        Welcome clients and other visitors

    -        Draft client correspondence

    -        Prepare and assemble large mailings with multiple enclosures

    -        Assemble estate planning documents in preparation for signing

    -        Prepare and submit beneficiary designation forms for life insurance and retirement accounts

    -        Form limited liability companies in various states and draft simple operating agreements

    -        Assist in drafting Wills, powers of attorney, purchase agreements, promissory notes and other legal documents

    -        Assist in preparing flow charts to provide a visual summary of an estate plan or transaction 

    -        Obtain and record tax ID numbers for trusts 

    -        Assist in tracking completion of various components of transactions and keeping all involved attorneys and paralegals updated on  project status

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    -        Must be very organized with a high attention to detail

    -        Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

    -        Great interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

    -        Ability to multi-task and work independently and efficiently

    -        Prior experience in administrative support preferred but not required

    -        Prior experience in legal and document management preferred but not required
