Bird and Bear Services, Inc., a large, Pittsburgh-based commercial roofing organization, is seeking a Vice President of Sales and Estimating to join our team. The Vice President of Sales and Estimating will be responsible for securing and screening bidding opportunities, supervising the estimating staff, managing the accuracy and proficiency of the estimating process, and increasing revenue and profitability through effective marketing and selling. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the succession planning of the organization.

Job Duties:

• * Possess significant experience and extensive knowledge of all aspects of commercial roofing applications.
  

  • Know and understand roof assemblies, product compatibility, code compliance and warranty requirements.
  • Have intimate knowledge of manpower productivity rates across a broad spectrum of roof applications, whether new, reroof or retrofit.
  • Understand and demonstrate creativity in “means and methods” of the roofing process across all manner of roof applications.
  • Possess the work ethic, ambition, and intellect to lead the Sales and Estimating Department to a higher level.
  • Know and understand the intricacies of the Collective Bargaining Agreements for Roofers, Sheet Metal Workers, Operating Engineers, and Carpenters.
  • Possess the same high moral and ethical standards as the organization.
  • Develop Marketing and Sales Strategies to comply with Financial Goals and Growth Strategies consistent with the risk tolerance for the company.
  • Strategically manages Estimating to achieve revenue and profit budgets.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain a broad network of new and existing customers.
  • Manage and supervise the Estimating staff.
  • Identify, develop, and embrace new estimating technology.
  • Ensure that all company policies and procedures within the estimating jurisdiction are followed.
  • Ensure highly productive relationships and partnerships are developed for the benefit of the organization.
  • Manage a high level of client interaction.
  • Be totally committed to the safety culture of the organization.

Qualifications:

• * Bachelor’s degree
  

  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Procore, Edge and other software literacy.
  • Significant sales and estimating experience specific to the Commercial Roofing Industry.
  • Possess the skill and understanding to evaluate plans and specifications to assess the project’s risk.
  • Excellent oral and written communication,
  • Outstanding leadership and coaching skills.
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from strategic plan to closing.
  • Strong business sense and industry expertise.
  • Ability to source potential customers and generate leads for the organization.
  • Possess an understanding of market, industry, and competitive conditions.
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Effective communication with customers, as well as strong follow-up skills
  • Have the ability to think creatively about opportunities.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills.
  • Committed to continuous improvement.
