    About Black Sage Technologies

    We are a counter-autonomous solution provider and systems integrator serving the

    United States and other foreign allied governments, as well as civilian government and

    commercial operators of critical infrastructure. Our mission is to protect lives and

    property from autonomous threats with an initial emphasis on various unmanned

    systems (UxS).

    Black Sage builds Counter-UxS (C-UxS) systems to provide continuous protection

    across varied threat environments and mission sets. We focus on managing the C-UxS

    kill chain to optimize data fusion from multiple sensors. We provide autonomous

    detection, classification, tracking, and selection from multiple kinetic, cyber, and low-

    collateral defeat capabilities to support the mission.

    Black Sage is a wholly owned subsidiary of High Point Aerotechnologies. Black Sage

    and other subsidiaries are integrating to operate as a single organization as High Point

    Aerotechnologies. The VP of Engineering for Black Sage will become the VP of

    Engineering for High Point Aerotechnologies.

    Job Description

    As the Vice President of Engineering, you will primarily organize and coordinate multi-

    disciplinary software, hardware, and systems engineering teams across multiple

    subsidiaries. You will represent Black Sage’s Vision of excellence in Autonomous

    Systems Superiority. Black Sage is a passionate, hard-working team that succeeds

    The VP of Engineering will balance teams’ cultures spread by talents, disciplines,

    expertise, and work locations while fully integrating into the larger organization. You will

    lead in developing the people, culture, and tools to do profitable work for satisfied

    customers while ensuring our engineering staff feels challenged, rewarded, and

    respected.

    The position is located in Boise, ID.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership and direction for the engineering teams
    • Align your organization’s goals and objectives with company strategy
    • Oversee the development and execution of the company's technical roadmap
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products and solutions
    • Mentor and manage the engineering teams to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, including hiring, training, performance management, and career development
    • Ensure appropriate engineering support of new business development activities by supporting business gate reviews, capabilities presentations, project plan development, and building quotes for technical services.
    • Support marketing initiatives by providing thought leadership, such as authoring articles, hosting webinars, speaking at conferences, etc.
    • Collaborate with the program management office to monitor and pro-actively address any project concerns to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction
    • Monitor and analyze key engineering metrics and KPIs

    Reporting Relationship

    • VP of Engineering will report to the company President

    Education / Certifications

    • Master's degree in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline

    Requirements

    • U.S. Citizen
    • Current US Secret clearance or ability and willingness to obtain and hold
    • 15+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, hardware engineering, and product development, including 10+ years in a leadership role
    • Strong experience in leading and managing engineering teams in a fast-paced, agile environment
    • Expertise in software development methodologies, processes, and tools, including Agile, Scrum, and DevOps
    • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, databases, and big data technologies
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
    • High attention to detail, organization, and time management
    • Experience with sponsored development and design-to-cost principles

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Understanding of C-UxS systems
    • Strong technical background in one or more relevant technologies such as radar, electro-optical tracking, light detection and ranging (LiDAR), Laser Range Finding (LRF), Laser target designation, passive radio frequency (RF) sensing and direction finding, RF electronic warfare, autonomy, machine learning, and other technologies related to detecting and defeating autonomous systems
    • A strong understanding of federal contracting
    • Holds a valid US Passport (or ability to obtain one upon hire)
    • Current or recently-held TS/SCI clearance
