Job Summary
Black Sheep Bar and Provisions in Garwood, NJ is seeking a creative and dynamic Sous Chef to join our flock. In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to create innovative menus and prepare elevated dishes for the newest and busiest restaurant in the area. The ideal candidate is experienced, innovative, passionate about all things culinary, and maintains strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
· Create innovative menus according to the seasonal availability of ingredients
· Assist Executive Chef and Sous Chef with kitchen operations with a goal of increasing revenue and profit while offering a superior quality product
· Supervise and coordinate all food preparation and presentation
· Provide training and leadership for kitchen staff
· Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and foster positive relationship with vendors
· Follow all food safety rules and regulations
Qualifications:
· Extensive previous culinary experience running kitchens of all types and sizes
· Certification from culinary school a plus but not required
· ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification
· Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes
· Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to increased pace in guest traffic
· Excellent management and leadership skills
· Strong communication skills
