ROLE: ACCOUNTING MANAGER (NEWLY CREATED ROLE DUE TO GROWTH)

LOCATION: IRVINE (ROLE IS A HYBRID WITH THE CANDIDATE GOING INTO THE OFFICE 2-3 TIMES PER WEEK)

NOTES ON ROLE:

• This person will supervise a team of 2 Staff Accountants.
• Responsibilities include month-end accounting close, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, financial reporting, other analysis, ensuring controls in place, financial close process, process improvements.
• This person needs no tax experience but will gain some in this role: Partnering with the Tax Manager with sales tax process and Corporate tax compliance, schedules. So someone will be able to gain tax experience without having to actually do a lot of tax work – and its good experience that is needed to round out your skillset to become a strong Controller in the future.

REQUIREMENTS:

• CPA OR WORKING TOWARD IT IS REQUIRED
• PUBLIC ACCOUNTING + PRIVATE INDUSTRY IS PREFERRED. STRAIGHT PUBLIC OR STRAIGHT PRIVATE WITH CPA IS ALSO DESIRED.

SUMMARY:

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for executing month-end and year-end financial close efforts and preparing complete and accurate accounting records for major balance sheet accounts and operating expenses. The Accounting Manager will also maintain the general ledger accounts and produce financial reports. In addition, will be involved with general corporate tax compliance, including developing and implementing efficient tax compliance processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ACCOUNTING

· Support the month-end and year-end accounting close process, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

· Ensure financial information and schedules are accurate and maintained in accordance with US GAAP.

· Prepare financial statements for dissemination to senior management, partners, and other third parties as needed

· Coordinate with external auditors for requests and inquiries

· Ensure controls are properly performed within the financial close process and financial reporting

· Partner with IT and external consultants to support ongoing improvements to accounting systems and procedures

· Perform various projects such as research, special projects, and analysis as needed

· Assist with general corporate tax compliance functions

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree related to accounting or finance

· 5+ years of relevant accounting and tax experience, including 3 years at public accounting firm

· Certified Public Accountant preferred

· Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in tax compliance and accounting
