TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR
FULL TIME, NON-EXEMPT HOURLY POSITION
Position Summary:
The Transportation Manager must have a CDL-A license, good leadership skills, personable/good communication skills, strong relationship builder and an in-depth knowledge of safety and transportation regulations.
Essential Functions:
Manages CDL-A drivers including but not limited to their initial and ongoing training and overall performance.
Manages the company’s fleet automobiles including main
Plans, implements, and monitors day-to-day transportation operations, including analysis of on-time reports, delivery reliability, off-load rate, and manpower needs. (25%)
Reviews and schedules daily routing of equipment and manpower to meet restaurant needs in terms of normal deliveries, special deliveries, supplemental deliveries.
Resolves equipment failures or break-downs, providing advice and assistance to drivers, as well as submitting appropriate reports to leasing/maintenance provider for service and repair.
Motivates employees, including performance evaluation, counseling, and problem resolution, to achieve a positive work environment.
Supervises employees, including interpretation of rules in a union work environment, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action as required.
Update reports on a daily basis, including review of drivers’ on-board computer reports to ensure that goals for efficiency and timeliness are met.
Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications/Physical Requirements (Education/Training/Experience/Abilities):
Must be able to operate both automatic and manual transmissions in both a safe and legal manner.
Must possess current Class A CDL driver’s license and have DOT knowledge.
Must possess a polite and friendly attitude.
Must be neat and clean in appearance.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be familiar and proficient with all commissary/warehouse duties.
Ability move/lift up to 50lbs unassisted
The employee is frequently required to sit, speak and hear.
The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & DOT drug screen, and have an acceptable MVR driving record.
