    Job Description

    Job Title: Special Education Teacher (SPED Teacher)

    Job Description: We are currently seeking a Special Education Teacher (SPED Teacher) for a contract position in an elementary school setting. The position is available for the 2023/2024 school year and requires a valid SC Licensure/Certification. This is a full-time role that provides academic support to students with special needs.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
    • Provide direct instruction and support to students with special needs, addressing their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals.
    • Utilize appropriate teaching strategies and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and other special education staff to ensure the successful inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education curriculum.
    • Monitor student progress, assess their abilities, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, including IEP progress reports, behavior logs, and other required paperwork.
    • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student performance and address any concerns.
    • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and other school-related events as required.

    Requirements:

    • Valid SC Licensure/Certification for Special Education.
    • Experience working with elementary-aged students with disabilities is preferred.
    • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction and modify curriculum to meet individual student needs.
    • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students with special needs.
