Purchasing Manager
Bloom Partners Talent Solutions is seeking a highly organized and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our client's growing commercial landscape construction client in Tampa, FL. As a Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the procurement process, from identifying and sourcing suppliers to negotiating contracts and managing inventory levels. You will play a key role in ensuring that the company has the right materials and plants at the right time and at the best possible cost.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to achieve cost savings and optimize inventory levels for landscaping materials, plants, irrigation, raw materials, aggregates, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies
- Identify and source potential suppliers, conduct market research, and evaluate bids for landscaping materials, plants, irrigation, raw materials, aggregates, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers, securing the best possible terms and conditions for landscaping materials, plants, irrigation, raw materials, aggregates, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies
- Manage inventory levels, ensuring that the right landscaping materials and plants are on hand to meet project demands
- Oversee the purchasing process, from requisitioning to receiving and payment for landscaping materials, plants, irrigation, raw materials, aggregates, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and reports for landscaping materials, plants, irrigation, raw materials, aggregates, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in procurement for landscaping materials, plants, irrigation, raw materials, aggregates, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies
- Work closely with project managers and designers to understand project requirements and ensure timely delivery of materials and plants
- Manage relationships with suppliers and maintain open communication to ensure ongoing supply of materials and plants
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, horticulture, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the landscaping industry
- Proven ability to negotiate and secure favorable contracts for landscaping materials, plants, irrigation, raw materials, aggregates, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies
- Experience with inventory management systems and software for landscaping materials, plants, irrigation, raw materials, aggregates, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of landscaping materials, plants, irrigation, and construction methods
- Familiarity with the design-build process is a plus
