    Position Summary : Located in Portland, Oregon, The Staff Accountant assists the Controller in managing the accounting function, which includes bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, tax and audit preparation, and adhering to generally accepted accounting principles. This role will assist with establishing and maintaining strong internal controls for safeguarding assets. This service-oriented role will work with vendors, customers, leadership, and other internal team members to ensure proper approvals and that invoices and expenses are accurately accounted for. This position helps to provide accurate and reliable financial information in a maintained, timely manner.

    • Create timely customer invoices using Maxio/SaaS Optics
    • Input and maintain customer contracts and renewals in Maxio/SaaS Optics
    • Monitor the accounting team inbox and assist in responding to internal and external inquiries
    • Collaborate with other departments on reporting actual expenses within their spending plans
    • Actively participate in the monthly financial close process and reporting
    • Create journal entries and perform regular account reconciliations
    • Validate, enter, reconcile, and process accounts payable
    • Reconcile and record credit card expenses monthly
    • Record accounts receivable collections and make bank deposits
    • Perform daily cash reconciliation
    • Assist with accounts receivable collections and customer follow-up
    • Serve as backup for payroll processing
    • Assist with external tax and audit preparation
    • Other duties and projects as assigned

    Qualifications :

    Education/Experience:


    • BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
    • 3+ years of progressive experience in a start-up to mid-size company (or combined years of experience with a public accounting/auditing background)
    • Proficient in the use of financial information systems like QuickBooks Online
    • SaaS industry experience and experience with the use of Maxio/SaaS Optics is preferred
    • Must have intermediate to advanced Excel skills and be able to prepare/manage spreadsheets and financial data
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated track record for building collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization
    • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands
