JOB SUMMARY: OVERALL SUMMARY OF FUNCTION The Controller will establish and maintain financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. The Controller will closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other key executives and be responsible for all facets of the accounting operations, including budget preparation, forecast maintenance, cash flow planning, monthly close cycle, financial reporting and analysis, risk management, development and monitoring of internal controls, audit preparation, Tax support, technical accounting analysis and policy development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: AT MINIMUM DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage day-to-day financial accounting activities and functions, including: timely and accurate monthly financial reporting, closing processes, and reconciliation of various financial statement accounts
• Lead budget process and tracking against budget
• Lead efforts to identify and implement steps to proactively reduce operating expenses.
• Participates in system implementation for expense control and/or control of credit card transactions
• Delivers monthly financial statements with appropriate analysis of activity, revenue and spending
• Reviews monthly account reconciliation workbooks
• Works with departments to review and analyze monthly statements of operations
• Manage the approval and issuance of payments to vendors and submit to COO for signature
• Reviews and approves cash and wire disbursement functions
QUALIFICATIONS: AT MINIMUM TRAINING, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor degree required, accounting or business degree preferred
• Proven management skills are essential, the ability to develop and lead a group of inexperienced individuals is critical
• Excellent analytical skills and problem solving ability.
• Must possess strong communications skills and be used to working with multiple priorities and multi-tasking for multiple sequesters (including employees, customers and vendors)
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Must be organized, detail and team oriented
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Quick Books, with strong reporting capabilities, ERP skills and systems thinking.
• Ability to carry out assigned tasks timely and efficiently
• Capable of operating in a fast paced environment, able to handle pressure well, be self motivated and detail oriented
• Hands on, roll up the sleeves, can do attitude
