    DIVISION/DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

     

    The Department of Administrative and Instructional Leadership (DAIL) in The School of Education at St. John's University invites applicants to apply for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a primary focus on teaching, scholarship, and service in the fields of educational and instructional leadership. Duties associated with this position include: 1) teaching graduate courses across DAIL programs, 2) advising and mentoring doctoral students, 3) engaging in research, scholarly writing, and grant work, and 4) serving on program, department, school, and university committees, when appropriate. Faculty are expected to teach at all NY locations and online. Qualifications Ideal applicants will have earned doctoral degree in educational leadership or a related field and have expertise in qualitative research methodologies. They will have evidence of a clear research agenda, demonstrated record of scholarship and experience of teaching at the graduate level. Dissertation mentoring experience is preferred. Applicants should have a research agenda that relates to K-12 education or higher education with a preferred focus on participatory action research and critical research methodologies within the field of qualitative research.

     

    Candidates will have a proven track-record of research with peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. The successful candidate will be able to teach graduate courses via in-person, online, and hybrid settings and utilize technology as an educational tool.     REQUIRED

    • Working knowledge of the NYS Building, Fire, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fuel Gas Codes; NFPA and other reference standards; and applicable NYS regulations (i.e. Title 19, NYCRR, Part 1202 or 1204) regarding the administration and enforcement of the Code Enforcement Program in NYS.
    • Ability to perform objective plan reviews of all disciplines and provide code interpretations with respect to applicable state regulations and building code requirements
    • Good knowledge of building construction processes and related inspection and testing within a utility environment
    • Ability to work effectively both independently or in a team environment.
    • Skills and aptitude for use of electronic data and document management systems (e.g. Microsoft Office and SharePoint).
    • Good knowledge of the NYS Building, Fire, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fuel Gas Codes; NFPA and other reference standards; and applicable NYS regulations (i.e. Title 19, NYCRR, Part 1202 or 1204) regarding the administration and enforcement of the Code Enforcement Program in NYS.
    • Extensive knowledge of building construction processes and related inspection and testing within a utility environment
    • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal and the ability to develop working relationships with, present to and interface with NYPA personnel at all managerial levels, project stakeholders and other related industry professionals.
    • Strong problem-solving, multitasking and project management skills.

     PREFERRED

    • User and development experience with MS Access.

    GENERAL

    • Up to 30% travel (20% for Program Manager)
    • Travel throughout New York State to NYPA’s operating facilities, attend agency meetings, and industry seminars and working group meetings.
    • Occasional out-of-state travel to attend agency meetings and industry seminars and working group meetings.
    • Ability to walk long distances, climb up and down stairs and ladders, inspect in trenches below grade, and be able perform physical inspections of all NYPA facilities
    • Ability to wear personal protection equipment such as safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection and safety glasses
    • Have a valid NYS Driver’s License
