    JOB TITLE:  IT SYSTEMS ANALYST 

     

    JOB SUMMARY:  

     

    The Information Technology Systems Analyst will design, operate, and maintain technology products and services supported by the Office of Information Technology. Supported services include: end point management, network management, software development, database administration, and audiovisual management. The IT Analyst will work oversee the design of protocols and procedures, the training of peers and clients, the maintenance of asset inventory, and collaborate with engineering teams on system designs and operations. 

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

     

    The IT Systems Analyst will enforce operational efficacy and work to diminish service outages by leveraging effective ITSM processes (e.g. incident, service request, problem, change, and configuration management). 

     

    IT Systems Analysts participate in the design, testing and deployment processes of client configurations. They will document technical processes and troubleshooting guidelines. Uses independent judgement and exercises discretion to ensure these documented processes are effective and current. The candidate will look at repeated issues and frequently asked questions and make decisions on effective resolution and modifications in technology and/or processes to address. 

     

    IT Systems Analyst will also work with external partners, including consultants, agencies and vendors, to arrive at the most appropriate system or integration of multiple systems. With information technology constantly changing, analysts must stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and the potential effectiveness of these advancements in their current system. Furthermore, candidate should maintain current relevant training and certifications. 

     

    COMPETENCIES 

    • The candidate demonstrates proficiency in particular areas by completing professional certification programs and should hold a minimum of the following within 18 months of employment:

     

               - CompTiaA+             - CompTia Network+             - Certified Technology Specialist (AVIXA CTS) 

    • Candidates expected to have a firm grasp of several programming languages, as well as experience dealing with a range of software and hardware types.  
    • Demonstrated knowledge of at least one programming language and proficiency in the Microsoft Office productivity suite (preferable Office365) and Microsoft Windows or Apple MacOS environments. 
    • At least four years of experience with IT support or technical customer service. 
    • Experience supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows and Macintosh computers.  
    • Demonstrated experience working in collaboration with a team as an effective team member.  
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse clientele.  
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.  
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently. Organizational skills and attention to detail is critical.  
    • Exercise good judgment, logic and troubleshooting skills to anticipate and solve problems independently.  
    • Proven experience in handling multiple priorities simultaneously.

      

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

    The employee may occasionally need to move IT equipment to classroom locations (20lbs or less). 

     

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK 

    This position is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, generally 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. This position is hybrid remote and may require the candidate to come to the St, John’s campus when needed. In addition, the ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, when necessary. 

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

    The candidate should have completed a have completed an associate’s degree program or higher in a computer science, information science, engineering, or equivalent field. Non-associate degrees are accepted with equivalent years of experience and relevant professional certifications.

    _In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $62,000 - $65,000.  St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. _

     

    This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time
