    DIVISION/DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

     

    Physical Therapy Program in Department of Clinical Health Professions within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Establish, develop, and maintain an adequate quantity and quality of clinical education sites,

    • Create/compose policies and procedures manual for the program’s clinical education and practice,

    • Place and supervise students in appropriate clinical sites,

    • Supervise and communicate with students and clinical instructors during internships,

    • Monitor and document student performance,

    • Collaborate with faculty and administrative team,

    • Meet the educational needs of students, mission and vision of the University, Department, DPT Program and CAPTE,

    • Be knowledgeable about legal, regulatory, and practice issues affecting clinical education,

    • Manage all administrative responsibilities consistent with CAPTE, federal/state regulations, University/Department requirements, and clinical sites,

    • DPT core faculty teaching workload in area(s) of expertise,

    • Department/University/Community service and scholarship.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • Candidates must hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or a B.S. in Physical Therapy plus an earned academic doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., D.Sc.) Preference will be given to candidates with a DPT degree and an earned academic doctoral degree.

    • Candidates must be a physical therapist who is licensed or regulated in any United States jurisdiction as a current Physical Therapist.

    • Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience as a Clinical Instructor and/or clinical coordinator

    • Previous experience as a DCE preferred but not required.

    • Prior experience in a CAPTE accredited Physical Therapy program is preferred.

    • Significant research experience and publications.

    • Ability to follow simple work instructions. Recognize meanings of two or three syllable words. Able to compare similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Able to speak simple sentences, using normal word order, and present and past tenses.
