    BANNER APPLICATION DEVELOPER 

     

    JOB SUMMARY:

     

    Develops, integrates, analyzes, and/or modifies enterprise applications and solutions in support of the university's application portfolio including but not limited to its ERP (Banner) and collaborative technologies. Designs and improves programs and applications to ensure system efficiency, accessibility, functionality, and superior user experience.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Translates business requirements into agile specification for programs and associated scripts to deliver functionality, usability, accuracy, and compliance with programming and security standards.
    • Uses subject matter expertise in working directly with users to identify problems or functionality gaps in software programs and processes, or desired enhancements to programs or processes.
    • Uses a variety of programming languages, software tools, and operating systems to develop code required for integrating applications, automating or improving processes, and supporting self-service functions for customers.
    • Assumes responsibility for delivery of completed products, working collaboratively with team members, project managers, and end users.
    • Mentors and directs the work of others on the team.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves complex development, testing, and production issues.
    • Accountable for maintaining the security and confidentiality of any proprietary or sensitive information or data in any medium regarding the university or its students, faculty, or staff.
    • Work on special projects from time to time.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field plus approximately 7-10 years of relevant work experience preferably in Higher Ed.
    • Utilizing strong critical thinking skills, analyze and define application specifications necessary to develop best-in-class IT solutions
    • Good working knowledge of object oriented programming, Java, Groovy, and the Grails Application Framework, as well as Oracle SQL/PLSQL programming.
    • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and independent problem solving abilities.
    • Thorough knowledge of standard design/development life cycle, tools, techniques, including software version control.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with customers to define requirements, create technical designs, and build solutions that meet or exceed user expectations.
    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that strives to be Efficient, Professional, Innovative and Collaborative
