CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking experienced Board Certified Perfusionists for on-site contract positions at a federal medical center in San Francisco, California. This is an exceptional opportunity for seasoned perfusion professionals to serve veterans and contribute to life-saving cardiovascular surgical programs.
Position Overview
We are hiring two on-site perfusionists and one on-call perfusionist to support a high-volume cardiovascular surgery program. You will operate heart-lung machines, manage extracorporeal circulation, and provide critical perfusion services during open heart surgery, ECMO, IABP, and autotransfusion procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct all cardiopulmonary bypass procedures for adult and pediatric cardiac surgery cases
- Manage and operate ECMO circuits, IABP, and ventricular assist devices
- Perform autotransfusion (cell salvage) services during surgical procedures
- Monitor and maintain physiological parameters during extracorporeal circulation
- Prepare, calibrate, and prime heart-lung machines prior to each case
- Document all perfusion records accurately and completely
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education
- Maintain and troubleshoot all perfusion equipment
- Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited perfusion technology program
- CCP (Certified Clinical Perfusionist) certification through ABCP (American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion)
- Minimum 3 years of continuous certified perfusion experience
- Minimum 1,000 documented clinical perfusion cases
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current, unrestricted state license (if applicable)
- Open heart surgery and cardiopulmonary bypass experience
- ECMO, IABP, and autotransfusion proficiency
- Clean professional malpractice history
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of clinical perfusion experience
- CAT (Certified Autotransfusionist) certification through ABCP
- Experience in a federal healthcare setting
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
- Experience mentoring junior perfusionists
Compensation
- Independent Contractor: $104 - $126 per hour (commensurate with experience)
