  • Responsibilities

    About the program: Bob Casey for Senate is seeking a number of interns to join us this summer to work with and assist various departments as we grow our campaign ahead of the 2024 election. Interning with the Bob Casey for Senate campaign is a unique opportunity for hardworking and passionate aspiring political leaders to gain real-life, hands-on experience in Democratic politics, strengthen your understanding of the political process, and prepare for future political opportunities. As an intern you will work in department-specific substantive and administrative work and each department offers you a unique learning experience.

    Finance - The Finance Department raises the resources that will allow our campaign to be successful next November. They oversee our fundraising and donor stewardship programs for the campaign.

    Digital - The Digital Department oversees our digital footprint with voters and supporters to Bob Casey for Senate. The Digital Department oversees our digital fundraising, content, and social media efforts for the campaign to ensure we have a consistent and growing presence online. .

    Research - The Research Department is responsible for compiling and creating research materials that will support the campaign and running our accountability track. This team works on both short and long term projects from individual to organizational-level research that allow us to build a robust campaign.

    Communications - The Communications Department facilitates the campaign's interaction with the public and the media. This department communicates our campaign message and ensures the public is aware of our message and how Senator Casey is delivering for Pennsylvania.

    Operations - The Operations Department is responsible for management and monitoring of the campaign's day-to-day business and office operations. The department ensures that the campaign's operations are efficient and effective and that our resources are managed in a way that allows for the implementation of the campaign plan.

    What you'll learn: While working on this campaign you will have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of the democratic political landscape and learn valuable new skills as you start your career in politics. Depending on your team, you will be able to learn:

    • How campaigns work
    • Donor and Individual Research
    • Social Media Management and Design
    • Press clips
    • Campaign event and activities planning and logistics

    Responsibilities:

    Your responsibilities will vary based on the team you ultimately end up on. Once you have an assigned department, the Department Head will provide you information on your day-to-day responsibilities and provide you with the training you need to complete those tasks. Your work may include the following:

    • Work and communicate effectively with other members of the Campaign team to achieve Campaign goals;
    • Managing projects as assigned from your intern supervisor;
    • Drafting and revising campaign materials as asked;
    • Drafting press clips;
    • Accountability and donor research for the campaign;
    • Assist managing day-to-day office operations;
    • Design and manage the campaign's digital presence;
    • Staffing campaign events as needed and available

    Qualifications:

    • Prior campaign or political experience is a plus, but not required
    • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Strong written and grammatical skills;
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
    • Attention to detail and enthusiasm for learning new processes;
    • Dedication to being a team player and trying new things;
    • Access to a cell phone and laptop

    Logistics:

    • Level: Intern
    • Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt position and compensation is $15 per hour.
    • Location: Philadelphia
    • You will need to be at least 18 years of age
    • Start Date: Rolling, Beginning May 1st, 2024
    • Hours: 10-12 hrs per week, schedule to be determined as part of the interview process. Please note, this position's schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle

    Application Process:

    During the application process, you will be asked to rank four departments you would most like to work with. If you are selected to move forward, your first interview will take place virtually with a member of the Operations team. If you make it to the next round, your following interviews will be a designated member of a campaign department based on preference and campaign needs. We operate on a rolling admissions cycle.
