    Job Description

    ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

    Boies Schiller Flexner LLP is seeking a mid-level litigation paralegal for the New York City office. Responsibilities include assisting lawyers in various types of litigation and providing assistance in the preparation of legal documents, conducting legal and factual research, preparation and maintenance of case files, and overall administrative support of the attorneys’ needs. This position will also work closely with the Firm’s Managing Clerks to monitor state & federal cases the Firm is involved in and to assist with filing legal documents. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of litigation experience and be eager to continue to learn and develop their skills in a fast-paced, collegial, and collaborative environment. Candidates should be flexible to work frequent overtime and occasional weekends.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with a certification as a paralegal is required;
    • At least three years of experience, prior law firm or other legal experience is a plus;
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and administrative skills are required;
    • Excellent computer skills are required. This includes experience with Adobe and all Microsoft Office Applications, including Word, Excel, and Power Point;
    • Ability to draft correspondence, discovery requests and responses and other related documents as necessary and assigned;
    • Ability to gather, organize, summarize, and index documents for various sources for upcoming, pending, and potential litigation;
    • Experience using legal filing systems (e.g., PACER), document management software, Westlaw or Lexis, and the ability to Cite Check and Bluebook is a plus;
    • Maintains all initial filings of legal records, briefs, and correspondence for the assigned cases;
    • Ability to conduct legal research by identifying applicable statutes and judicial decisions;
    • Ability to summarize depositions, arbitrations, hearings, trials, and other transcripts.

     

    The successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and maintain a high standard of ethical conduct. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for interactions with all levels of Firm personnel, clients, and vendors. The successful paralegal must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multitask. Strong organizational and research skills are required. Must possess and apply a broad basic knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the law. Position requires the ability to work independently and as a team player.
