    We are seeking a reliable accounting professional who understand how their work supports the big picture – candidates are able to proactively problem solve and communicate their understanding of the big picture.     Controllers will enjoy being part of a supportive network of finance professionals and will liaise with the Regional Controller and any Unit Bookkeepers. The ability to build trust with clients, operations teams, and direct reports is key.

    The work model is primarily onsite due to the initial training and relationship building aspects of the job, with future potential to discuss a hybrid, partial remote model.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Controller for Bon Appetit Management Company is responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

    • Proven working experience as a Controller
    • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
    • Advanced degree in Accounting preferred
    • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
    • Experience with creating financial statements
    • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
    • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills

    • Ability to commission, deploy and monitor effectiveness

    OVERALL MANAGEMENT:

    • Manage all accounting operations including sales, A/R, A/P, inventory, billing, and financial reporting
    • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
    • Prepare monthly and annual budgets and financial forecasts and report variances
    • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
    • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
    • Review transaction ledger and identify areas of opportunity Support weekly, monthly, and year-end close processes
    • Hire, train and supervise accounting staff
    • Teach operators on how to better understand and use financial statements
    • Research any POS issues and follow through to resolution
    • Preparation and analysis of period end financial reports for management team – provide explanations for variances to budget and forecasts, identify trends and KPIs
    • Participate and closely assist in the preparation of quarterly business reviews
    • At quarterly business reviews, be prepared to present an analysis of the financial performance
    • Participate in review of contract and contract changes to assess commercial implications and ensure contracts are understood and enforced
    • Provide leadership within finance and accounting departments and work with other departments to identify workflow improvements and best practices to improve the accuracy and timelines of financial reporting
    • Ultimately, you'll make sure we comply with accounting regulations, maximize profits and mitigate risks

    CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CLIENT RELATIONS:

    • Represent the company in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner in all customer, client and employee interactions
    • Liaise with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained
    • Correspond with various other departments, discussing company plans and suggesting future paths to be taken
    • Create client facing reports which may include visuals and narrative
    • Review computations made by others for accuracy
    • Validate assumptions
    • Provide financial perspective of risks and opportunities
    • Keep in constant contact with operations to recognize change in trends
