OBJECTIVES OF POSITION: Provide a vision for and oversee and ensure the provision of quality nursing services for the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Direct supervision, development and evaluation of administrative staff.
- Responsible for compliance with Client' medical mandates. Disseminate Client' regulations to nursing/medical staff to ensure compliance. Review printouts and database information regarding compliance. Problem solve to improve compliance.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with other agency personnel, including Campus business office, Human Resources and Research Department.
- Ensure provision of high quality health care to families served by organization. This includes:
- In Clinics: Family centered, age appropriate medical care.
- In Community: Identify and work closely with community providers who provide medical and health related services to children served by organization to ensure optimal services. Train those providers when necessary to enhance their understanding of issues related to children in foster care.
- Encourage nursing/medical staff to participate in and/or co-lead groups for youth in care, for parents and/or for foster parents.
- Overall responsibility for the selection and termination of all staff within the medical department in consultation with Human Resources
- Train and supervise nursing and medical staff. Identify appropriate outside trainings for nursing and medical staff.
- Identify unmet health needs for clients served by organization and develop plans to meet those needs.
- Oversee clinic scheduling and functions.
- Develop and monitor medical budget
- Participate in the day to day and long term decision making for the agency. Disseminate appropriate information to nursing/medical staff. Act as a liaison between nursing/medical program and the social service staff. Participate on CQIP committee and other committees as necessary.
- Review all medical bills to ensure children in care are being seen by appropriate providers and billing is being done correctly. Supervise pharmacy drug plan to ensure dissemination of information and proper billing.
Requirements:- Masters in Nursing preferred. Bachelors of Science accepted with appropriate experience.
- Must possess a current New York State Professional Nursing License.
- At least 3 years supervisory experience with strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- 5 years' experience in pediatric and/or adolescent health care.
- Solid understanding of Foster Care medical mandates and regulations.
