Department: Sandpoint Women's Health
Status: Part-time, flex 62-80 hrs per pay period
Shift: M-F, Days; Hours will vary with the needs of the department
POSITION SUMMARY: Provides safe and competent care for patients of Sandpoint Women’s Health Clinic. Function in an independent role while providing nursing care at the delegation of the Provider, while working within the RN Scope of Practice as defined by the Board of Medicine, but not extending such duties beyond what the provider of SWH has deemed permissible. Bear responsibility and accountability for all actions taken while carrying out nursing activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides nursing care at the direction of a licensed Physician and Nurse Practitioner
Assists providers in all phases of patient care at the Clinic, including minor surgical procedures performed
Ability to perform phone triage within RN scope of practice. Provide information, helpful suggestions and limited advice during telephone calls in order to calm patients and give support
Delivers prompt information to Providers regarding patients who may need immediate assistance
Returns messages left on telephone promptly
Escorts patients to examination rooms, records patient history and takes vital signs and documents information
Assesses Clinic patients by physical examination and initial interview to determine health status and establish a nursing diagnosis
Provides patient OB education during office visits
Administers medication and basic lab testing
Audits charts daily
Escribes prescriptions as ordered
Orders tests in Greenway and Meditech
Demonstrates flexibility with the willingness to work different shifts, rotations and call-in
Demonstrates ability to tactfully handle difficult situations with patients and their families, applying problem solving and critical thinking skillsRefer to Job Description for additional job duties
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Skills: Basic Nursing Skills; Venipuncture Lab testing; Autoclaving; IV Therapy; Ability to read, write legibly and comprehend the written and spoken word in English; Basic computer literacy and ability to effectively learn new software programs required
Education: Graduate of Accredited Nursing School - RN
Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience in outpatient office setting preferred
Licenses needed: Current State of Idaho Registered Nurse license; Current BLS (AHA) certification; Must obtain EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification within six (6) months of hire date
