STATUS: Part-time/FLEX; 48-56 hours per pay period
Minimum hours of position per pay period is 48 hours; Flex to 56 hours per pay period to cover planned vacations or long term absences which will be included in work schedule a minimum of two weeks in advance when possible
SHIFT: Monday; 9:30am-6:00pm
Thursday; 7:30am-4:00pm
Friday; 7:30am-4:00pm
POSITION SUMMARY: The Wound Clinic Nurse is an LPN that specializes in providing preventive care and treatment for patients with different types of wounds, including diabetic, arterial, venous and pressure ulcers, surgical incisions, wound caused by injury, infection, stomas, and fistulas.
Performs and documents wound assessments
Collaborates with physician in patient’s plan of care and assists physician with wound care
Performs lower leg ulcer assessments: venous, arterial, and neuropathic (diabetic foot ulcer)
Provides individualized education on wound care for the patient and/or caregiver, utilizing appropriate resources to meet those needs and achieve positive patient outcomes
Evaluates the effectiveness of prevention techniques and wound care treatment
Collaborates effectively with multidisciplinary team
Assists in housewide staff wound care education
Provides safe and comprehensive nursing care according to state regulations, hospital policy and procedure and Joint Commission standards
Establish care priorities based on patient problems; communicate with staff and new employees of patient problems/concerns/changes in condition. Notify physician promptly regarding concerns
Must be proficient in medication administration, including IV therapy, as evidenced by lack of medication errors. Reports medication errors.
Perform procedures accurately, completely and safely according to established policy and procedure and physician orders
Monitors patients for nutritional deficiencies that could impact or impede wound healing
Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum for inpatients, outpatients and the community
Coordinates patient’s healthcare needs, assisting with referrals to other specialty clinics and community resources

SKILLS: Ability to read, write legibly and comprehend the written and spoken word in English; basic computer literacy and ability to effectively learn new software programs required; Demonstrates the ability to make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities; Ability to coordinate patient care services; Possesses effective and compassionate interpersonal skills
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
EXPERIENCE: Minimum two (2) years LPN experience required; Minimum two (2) years wound care experience required
LICENSE: Current State of Idaho LPN; Current CPR certification
