  • Responsibilities

    STATUS: Part-time, flex; 48-80 hrs per pay period

    Minimum hours of position per pay period are 48 hours; Flex to 80 hours per pay period to cover planned vacations or long term absences which will be included in work schedule a minimum of two weeks in advance when possible.

    SHIFT: M, TH, Fri.; 9am-5:30pm - May provide additional coverage to meet the needs of the department

    POSITION SUMMARY: Provides clerical and clinical assistance, including patient transport, for the technologists, physicians, and patients within the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Employees may be assigned to specific areas of responsibility, but will cross-train in all areas.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Accurately schedules patients for all Diagnostic Imaging procedures and ensures prior authorization is completed prior to scheduling

    Reviews each test requisition for physician signature, clinical history, marked exam, correct patient information and prior authorization; ensuring completeness of requisition 100% of the time

    Accurately selects and transfers patient’s exams onto a CD

    Answers phone calls and takes messages, answers inquiries and completes film requests

    Enters patient orders in Meditech 6 and ensures correct account number 100% of the time

    Transports patients to and from Diagnostic Imaging procedures via wheelchair or stretcher and disinfects equipment as needed

    Responsible for office/changing room neatness and cleanliness

    Demonstrates the ability to communicate and receive constructive feedback in a positive manner

    Responsible for office supply inventory; assists with orders and restocks departments supplies as needed

    Demonstrates a professional working knowledge of all department equipment including PACS, Meditech 6 Electronic Medical Record (EMR), computer systems and phones

    Responsible for ensuring 100% accuracy when inputting exams, patient data, account numbers and physician orders into the EMR

    Responsible for ensuring 100% accuracy for daily departmental schedules, ensures patients orders are available

    Greet and provide initial contact to all patients and provide them with an approximate wait time

    Responsible for establishing, maintaining and ordering supplies

    Responsible for completing required training, focus competency reviews, skill and equipment checklists

    SKILLS: Ability to read, write legibly and comprehend the written and spoken word in English; basic computer literacy and ability to effectively learn new software programs required; Working knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to Diagnostic Imaging

    EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent

    EXPERIENCE: Experience in medical environment preferred
