Summary of Position:
The Registered Nurse renders professional care to patients within the patient care units of the Hospital, in support of medical care as directed by the Nurse Manager and pursuant to the guidelines of the Registered Nurse Practice Act and the policies and procedures of the Hospital.
Responsibilities:
Utilizes assessment skills and techniques to determine patient needs and condition upon admission and on an on- going basis, responding appropriately
Completes and documents the nursing admission assessment in a thorough and accurate manner as defined by unit policy
Assesses the need for patient/family instruction
Make rounds on all patients on the team
Initiate, develop and document patient plan of care based on patient’s assessment and medical diagnosis and setting priorities for nursing action in accordance with the unit’s policy on time-frames
Review and update the plan of care once every 24 hours or as necessary
Develop patient teaching and discharge plan as necessary
Delegates care to team members based on complexity, staff education and competency, state regulations and Bonner General Health (BGH) policy and procedure
Provides safe and comprehensive nursing care according to state regulations, hospital policy and procedure and DNV standards
Establish care priorities based on patient problems; communicate with staff and new employees of patient problems/concerns/changes in condition; notify physician promptly regarding concerns
Must be proficient in medication administration, including IV therapy, as evidenced by lack of medication errors; reports medication errors
Perform procedures accurately, completely and safely according to established policy and procedure and physician orders
Provide care with minimal supervision in a timely manner
Maintains a safe environment for patients; uses safety precautions appropriately

Education:
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.
Experience:
Recent and appropriate registered nursing experience; Critical Care experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Current State of Idaho RN license; Current CPR PREFERRED or obtained within 6 (six) months of hire: ACLS, PALS, DMAB; Procedural Sedation.
