BOOKKEEPER

Position Overview
Bradenton Tropical Palms (BTP) is a 55+, pet restricted Cooperative Community comprised of approximately 565 lots. The Park is governed by a Board of Directors (BOD) and each shareholder in the park is a member of the Park Community Association. The Park has governing documents, a Proprietary Lease, Operations Budget and Reserves.
The Bookkeeper position supports the Park Manager onsite with full bookkeeping services. This position also provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of Bradenton Tropical Palms with outstanding communication and customer service skills.
This position will require a current Background Check.
Reporting Relationships
The Bookkeeper reports to the Park Manager.
Education
• This position requires successful completion of High School or the equivalent
• At least two (2) years’ experience in bookkeeping
• This position must undergo continuing education as set forth to maintain any certifications
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Recording financial transactions: Accurately record all income, expenses, and financial activities using accounting software.
• Maintaining General Ledger: Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger by reconciling accounts and correcting discrepancies.
• Preparing financial Statements: With the oversight of the Park Manager, generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the Board of Directors.
• Accounts Payable and Receivable: Track invoices, payments, and overdue accounts while maintaining strong vendor and client relationships.
• Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with internal records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Budget Monitoring: Assist in tracking budgets, identifying variances, and recommending adjustments to the Park Manager.
• Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and assist with internal or external audits.
• Expense Management: Monitor expenses and recommend cost-saving measures to the Park Manager.
• Tax Preparation: Working with the Park Manager Board Treasurer, and CPA to prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Technical Proficiencies
• Must have working knowledge of efficient filing systems, office machines and equipment, including computer software (email, Word, Excel). Knowledge of the Enumerate Associations Software an asset
• Proficient keyboard skills.
Communication Skills
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Responds to phone calls and correspondence in a timely manner.
• Ability to analyze and deal with a variety of situations that otherwise could be potential problems.
• Maintains a professional relationship with Park Manager, Board of Directors, other employees, residents and vendors.
Special Requirements
Physical and Mental Demands
• Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, standing, sitting, walking and stair climbing.
• Required to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time as well as extended phone calls.
• Requires mental alertness and the ability to communicate clearly.
• Ability to detect auditory and/or visual emergency alarms.
Preferred Experience and Skills
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
• Must possess leadership skills, time management skills and communication skills.
• Software proficiency.
Compensation Package
The Salary for this position is determined by performance criterion set forth by the Board of Directors as outlined in this job description but will not be below the base salary range of $22/hr. Salaries for similar positions in the State of Florida, economy, and budget considerations will determine salary treatment going forward. There will be annual reviews by the Park Manager, noting the benchmarks achieved and overall performance.
