** Overview**
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to join our personal injury law firm. The ideal candidate will have experience managing trust accounts, client cost accounting, and reconciliations in a legal environment. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the firm’s operations, and ensuring compliance with all accounting and trust-fund regulations.
** Key Responsibilities**
** Financial Management**
- Record and reconcile daily financial transactions, including client settlements, disbursements, and operating expenses.
- Manage and reconcile firm operating and trust (IOLTA) accounts in compliance with State Bar requirements.
- Track client costs, case advances, and reimbursements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports (profit/loss, balance sheets, case cost reports, etc.).
- Process vendor invoices, firm expenses, and employee reimbursements.
- Coordinate with case managers and attorneys regarding settlement disbursements and lien payments.
** Payroll & Tax Support**
- Prepare and process biweekly payroll (or coordinate with payroll provider).
- Maintain payroll and benefits records, ensuring accurate deductions.
- Support CPA in preparing quarterly and annual tax filings.
** Reporting & Auditing**
- Reconcile accounts monthly and prepare reports for firm leadership.
- Assist with audits, trust account reviews, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain organized digital and paper records of all financial data.
** Administrative & Cross-Departmental Support**
- Work closely with intake, case management, and settlement teams to track expenses per case.
- Support management with budgeting and cash-flow planning.
- Implement and improve bookkeeping systems and procedures.
** Qualifications**
- ** 3+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience**, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting.
- Strong understanding of trust accounting (IOLTA) and client fund management.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online) and Microsoft Excel; experience with Filevine is a plus.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and legal accounting compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
