As our Bookkeeper, you will manage recurring monthly bookkeeping across a variety of client accounts. You’ll categorize transactions, reconcile accounts, run and post payroll, maintain and review bank rules, and support simple sales tax workflows. This role is best suited for someone who is steady, organized, detail-oriented, and confident in QuickBooks Online. Schedule & Work Environment • 8-hour flexible schedule between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM CT, Monday–Friday • Occasional weekend work required during tax season (March 1 – mid-April) • Remote work with a private, distraction-free home office • Equipment provided: computer, printer, scanner, and company cell phone Pay & Benefits • $39,000–$43,000/year to start • Annual performance-based bonuses • 401(k) with up to 3% employer match after 90 days • 2 weeks PTO per year (prorated after 90 days) • Paid holidays: • New Year’s Day • Memorial Day • July 4th • Labor Day • Thanksgiving & the day after • Christmas Eve & Christmas Day • Training and support provided Responsibilities: Bookkeeping • Categorize and post transactions in QuickBooks Online • Review, maintain, and clean up bank rules • Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts each month • Identify discrepancies or unusual activity and communicate them promptly • Maintain accurate financial records across multiple clients Payroll • Run payroll in Gusto, ADP, or QBO Payroll • Post payroll journals into QBO • Verify totals match payroll reports • Maintain consistency in payroll processing and posting Sales Tax (Simple / Guided) • Prepare monthly information for Missouri sales tax filings • Review taxable vs. non-taxable sales • Follow internal checklists for accuracy and timely filing General Workflow Support • Work within structured monthly routines • Manage multiple client schedules and deadlines • Communicate proactively when information is missing • Collaborate with leadership when questions arise Qualifications: What We’re Looking For Must-Have Skills • Solid QuickBooks Online experience • Experience reconciling accounts • Experience creating, reviewing, and editing bank rules • Experience in categorizing and posting transactions accurately Additional Traits • Thrives under pressure and stays focused in a deadline-driven environment • Able to work with a very busy and occasionally chaotic boss; takes initiative and stays ahead of needs • Works well with minimal instruction; reaches out when unclear and asks for help before falling behind • Highly organized, self-motivated, and proactive in solving problems • Tech-savvy and able to learn new software quickly • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Comfortable speaking up when something doesn’t look right • Experience running payroll is a plus • Experience posting loan interest and principal payments is a plus (training provided) • Experience with sales tax is a plus (training provided) Must reside in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, Franklin County, or nearby counties Compensation: $39,000 - $43,000
