We’re looking for a proactive Bookkeeper to manage our core financial functions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, general ledger, and cash management. This is a key role within a small business, offering the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our operations while enjoying a strong work-life balance in vibrant Charlotte. This is a hybrid work opportunity. The Bookkeeper will work in the Charlotte office location and remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely month-end closings
Manage accounts payable and receivable, process payroll, and perform bank and credit card reconciliations
Generate and deliver weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports to leadership
Prepare and analyze budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial statements
Create and post journal entries, ensuring the correct allocation of expenses
Review and process client agreements and generate client invoices
Follow up with clients on outstanding invoices and financial questions
Serve as a point of contact for employees on payroll, expense, and time reporting matters
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and support external tax filings
Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and consultants as needed
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial efficiency
Assist in the development of financial policies, controls, and procedures
Conduct internal reviews and audits to ensure financial integrity
Provide financial insights to support company strategy and decision-making
What We’re Looking For:
3–5 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience
Strong understanding of accounting principles, cost accounting, and financial reporting
Proficiency with accounting software and Excel; QuickBooks experience is a plus
High attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills—ability to interact professionally with clients and employees
Comfortable with regular client and staff follow-up to ensure timely and accurate information
Self-starter with a hands-on attitude and a desire to continuously improve processes
Supportive, flexible and collaborative team member
