    Position Overview: The Bookkeeping Consultant is responsible for planning, executing, and maintaining core bookkeeping functions for our clients, ensuring accuracy and reliability in their financial records. This is a part-time, hourly W-2 consulting role offering flexible, project-based work for exceptional accounting professionals who value a collaborative environment, quality assignments, and work-life balance. Hours will vary based on client demand and engagement needs.

    This role is ideal for professionals who bring a high degree of technical competency along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A successful candidate will have proven experience, confidence, and decisiveness — problem solvers, self-starters, and highly organized individuals will flourish in this position.     The role will be based in Columbus, OH. Onsite work and travel to client locations may be required based on engagement needs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Bookkeeping & Client Delivery

    • Plan, execute, and maintain all bookkeeping functions for clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
    • Implement bookkeeping best practices and maintain a high level of accuracy in recording transactions, processing information, and reconciling accounts.
    • Identify and implement business process improvements for clients.
    • Develop thorough documentation and deliverables.
    • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

    Qualifications:

    • Associate’s degree or equivalent job experience.
    • Seven-plus years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
    • In-depth understanding of core bookkeeping functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
    • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience with accounting software, such as QuickBooks.
    • Comfort asking questions to get answers, and the capacity to adapt to new and changing technology and software.
    • Ability to make progress on ill-defined or unclear projects, take direction, and apply it across different situations.
    • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion and commitment to providing quality client service.
