    Events and Marketing Communications Intern (Chicago Connectory)

    The Events and Marketing Communication Intern will be responsible for supporting the event initiatives offered in the Connectory and event promotion through internal and external communications channels. Intern will work directly with the team in the Chicago Connectory to plan, manage and promote events with internal and external partners in the Connectory and startup ecosystem.

    Events make up a lot of the day-to-day operations at the Connectory and we’re looking for someone to help structure and drive event participation among our community. This position will consult and support through the event process from start to finish as it pertains to the day-to-day operations of the Chicago Connectory. 

    We’re looking for
    a self-starter who gets things done. You’re organized, intrinsically motivated and naturally curious, think like an entrepreneur and are an active listener. You enjoy working with people of all backgrounds, community building and creating impact through event management and communication. 

    Your responsibilities:

    • Work with event team to organize marketing, communication and event logistics

    • Research strategic events / community building activities that will benefit the IoT ecosystem

    • Assist in development of strategic programming and educational experiences

    • Act as the point of contract for events and event talent (eg. guest speakers) Produce written content for marketing materials and digital communication channels (social media posts, blog posts, newsletter articles, email promotion, etc.)

    • Provide creative recommendations for communicating deliverables and structuring the concept of the Chicago Connectory

    • Special event coordination as needed (larger, showcase events)

       

       

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required Skill Set

    • Strong organizational, scheduling, and project management skills; ability to handle multiple deadlines simultaneously
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, positive attitude, willing and interested in problem solving and continuous improvement.
    • Able to work in a group setting with people of diverse backgrounds
    • Ability to perform tasks autonomously and complete work in a timely manner

    • Experience using MS Office Suite (eg. PowerPoint, Excel), Adobe Creative Suite (eg. Illustrator)

    • Digital marketing and communication expertise (including social content and strategy)

    • High proficiency in English (oral and written)

    • Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in marketing, communications, operations, PR, hospitality or a similar.
