THIS INTERNSHIP WILL BE PARTIALLY REMOTE BUT THE HIRED APPLICANT WILL BE EXPECTED TO COME INTO THE MOUNT PROSPECT OFFICE. ONLY LOCAL APPLICANTS WILL BE CONSIDERED.

The mechanical engineering intern will work directly with project teams developing new power tool products.  The location of the position is the Dremel brand North American headquarters for product development.  Cross functional teams work together to design, develop, and test new products while supporting each other in market research activities.  The mechanical engineering intern will work as part of the Dremel Do It Yourself team to design, prototype, and perform validation testing on new power tool product designs.  This person will work closely with both mechanical and electrical engineering teams during the development process.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering program or have graduated within the past six months
• Minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Experience using Pro/E Creo
• Experience with plastic and machine parts design
• Motor knowledge of AC and DC motors
• Comfortable assembling prototypes
• Experience creating 2-D drawings
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications
• Strong communicator, both written and verbal
• Position only open to students who will not now, nor in the future require sponsorship to work in the US
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
